Made it through my teen years! It was a pretty crazy ride, fraught with ups and downs… I was shoved into lockers, joined the marching band, got in with the Plastics, wrote in my diary every day about my secret crush, bought my first car, drove it to lovers lane where I had my first kiss, got crowned prom queen, slow danced with the most popular boy in school, AND lived in Australia for 5 months.
HAHA. the last part was true.
I’ll miss 19. It was a good age. And I was still a teenager, so I had an excuse to be reckless and irresponsible. I should have blamed all my screw ups on my youthful ignorance. In retrospect, I totally did not take advantage of that. DAMMIT.
Anyways, looking forward to this year to be over so I can hurry up and turn 21 already. Just kidding, seizing the day/cherishing every moment and whatnot. (whatnot… that is a terrible word, I hate myself for using it.)
I will leave you with this:

Hahahaha!! Oh how I missed America. Goodnight, reader!

Miss you Mitchell :)
It’s been a month since I left Australia!! It feels like it’s been forever. I miss it like a fat kid misses cake when his mom makes him go on a diet.
I still have dumb sentimental thoughts about it. Like I’ll get all excited when I hear an Australian on TV, which seems to happen way more than it did before. A few days after I got back my little sister asked me if I wanted to watch this new British show she discovered on Netflicks. So I start watching it and I realize that it isn’t British, it’s Australian! Also, the other day I was driving by the Oakdale Theater and The Wiggles were putting on a live concert! Don’t worry, I played it cool, but on the inside I was like “AUSSIES!!!!1!!11!!!!!”
There are other things too—just any crazy random happenstance will make me think of Australia. The other day I was at the beach and a seagull snatched up one of my cheese puffs. It reminded me this one time me and a few of my Aussie besties were feeding seagulls in the city beach parking lot. It was not long before scores of birds were swarming our car. They were EVERYWHERE. A bunch of them landed on the hood, their beady black soulless eyes staring at us through the windshield. I could hear their scratchy footsteps on the roof of the car above us. We tried to decide how many determined seagulls it would take to kill a man, and we decided that the number was a lot smaller than the amount that surrounded our car. Probably the most terrifying moment of my life, but it still made me laugh to think about.
In spite of all this, I realize that I need some new material for my tumblr. It is becoming increasingly difficult to write about Australia now that I’m living in America again. If I keep going the way I’m going my blog is going to get boring. It’ll be like “Today, I threw out my toothbrush that I used while I was in Australia.” This is actually true, but who really cares? Nobody. Except for me, because I love the fresh clean after effect of using a brand new toothbrush.
Anyways, I think I’m better off taking a new direction with this. SO I’ve decided to keep a blog about American Aussie Abby. This way I can show my Aussie friends how great Cheshire is and hopefully entice a few to come visit me! So much excitement to document, I don’t even know where to begin…um…today my sister got a coupon for Blizzards* at Dairy Queen**, so I got a chocolate Reese’s peanut butter cup for free. (You think I’m joking, but I’m not. It was spectacular.)
OKAY so I will think of some new material. I know you’re on the edge of your seat (you’re probably not) so check in for some wildly entertaining posts about my hometown and state.
American Vocabulary For the America-Impaired
*Blizzard- A delicious ice cream treat served at Dairy Queen (see below); Similar to a McFlurry but with a larger variety of flavors such as Reeses, Mint Oreo, Extreme Chocoholic, etc.
**Dairy Queen- Sort of like the Australian version of Wendys; Serves a lot of ice cream. And some real food like hot dogs and chicken nuggets, but unless you want to feel like you ingested a cinder block I don’t recommend buying lunch there.
